MediaPlatform, a provider of webcasting and media management technology, has claimed that their newly released WebCaster product is the first ever solution to be enabled with multicasting video to the Adobe Flash platform using the new Adobe Flash Media Server 4 software.
The MediaPlatform WebCaster is cloud-based webcasting software that packs event management, event customization, and production capabilities into a simple user experience. The company has claimed that the solution is designed serve the needs of demanding webcast production professionals as well as non-technical users. It is a heavyweight performer with a flyweight price and impact on corporate IT.
WebCaster now features a multicast player, built using Open Source (
News - Alert) Media Framework (OSMF). The browser-based video player allows an organization to stream video using both IP Multicast and Application-Level Multicast using Flash Player 10.1. This is supposed to enable radical enhancements in network efficiency and lower costs when compared with traditional techniques.
Ashley Still, group product manager Flash Media Distribution at Adobe has commented that as enterprises increasingly look to video to drive effective communication and collaboration, they need solutions that minimize costs and increase network efficiencies. Adobe Flash Media Server 4, coupled with the Open Source Media Framework, supports this increasing appetite for video without requiring costly network upgrades, constantly expanding media server infrastructure or extensive video player development. A big part of achieving this objective comes from close collaboration with the enterprise video ecosystem. MediaPlatform's team did a fantastic job leveraging Adobe’s technology and delivering a multicast solution that makes more corporate video possible at a lower cost.
Jim McGovern, CEO of MediaPlatform added that multicast with Adobe Flash technology is a game changer in enterprise video. From a business perspective, WebCaster enables companies to keep up with growing video and rich media usage while avoiding, or even cutting, network infrastructure and bandwidth costs. WebCaster and the Adobe Flash Platform offer many other benefits, in addition to multicasting, that suggest they are destined to be the future of video and rich media communications within the enterprise.
